Meet our Staff:
Dan and Karen Paulus:
Dan and Karen bought the orchard in the summer of 1999. Dan
grew up on a farm as a child and studied agri-business in college.
After college, and prior to the purchase of the farm, he worked for
Perdue Farms. Karen is at the farm a lot too. You will find
her in the stand or giving a school tour in the fall. Karen
studied chemistry in college and has taught part-time at Messiah College
for several years.
Nancy Scheffey:
Nancy is Karen's mom. Nancy has been working at the orchard for
several years. She works in August, September, and October.
She and her husband live in Delaware, so she drives a long way to come
and help! She stays with Dan and Karen while working at the farm.
We enjoy having her with us and it's really nice for our kids to see
their Grandma so often.
Chris Post:
Chris is Karen's brother. You will see him mostly in the corn
maze - he enjoys being a corn cop - and on occasion helping in the stand as well. Chris works
full time at JFC Temps. He's also my "tech guy," anytime I need
computer help I turn to him. He designed this web page.
Ashton Amey:
Ashton works in our "field area."
She sells tickets to the corn maze and works in the U-Pick section of
our farm. Ashton is studying nursing at Messiah College and was a
student in one of Karen's classes. This is Ashton's second year
with us.
Denton Amey:
Denton is a sophomore at Messiah College studying physical education
and health and is one of our Corn Cops. He knows every path of the
maze and can help you find your way out!
Marisa Hunt:
Marisa is a cheerful and outgoing girl who attends Northern High
School. You will see her in the farm stand on weekends. She
is on the tennis team and participates in the school musicals.
This is Marisa's third year - she knows it all. It will be really
hard to lose her when she goes to college next year.
Taylor-Lynn Kunkle:
Taylor attends Northern High School. She helps with the
wholesale orders in the stand and this fall she will be in the small
corn maze and helping with birthday parties.
Kelly McCluskey:
Kelly teaches school tours on weekdays. Kelly is also a
substitute teacher in our school district. She has been a great
addition to the farm.
Gary Meyers:
Gary is the awesome corn cop you see frequently! But don't call
him a corn cop - he prefers "Maze Marshal!" He has been a
great help to many and we are so happy to have him helping us on the
weekends. He tells us that we are saving him quite a bit of money
- if he wasn't working for us on the weekends he'd be playing golf and
spending all of his money!
Melissa Myers:
Melissa attends Northern High School and is one of our newest cashiers in the farm stand.
She has worked hard to learn all about the fruits and vegetables we grow
and sell.
Carisa Morris:
Carisa is a good friend of Karen's and is working during the weekdays
while her three boys are at school. This fall she will be teaching
some of our fall tours. We are quite lucky to have
such a happy and hard working person on our team.
Amy Williams:
Amy is a Messiah College student studying nursing. Karen taught
one of her classes and was lucky enough to recruit her! She has
worked in the stand and in the field, learning every aspect of the
business. Amy did a tremendous amount of work on the corn maze
this year. She hopes to someday be a nurse in Africa.
We wish her the best of luck!
