About Us:
Dan and Karen purchased the orchard in 1999 from the Mowery family. We
have one farm stand located at 522 East Mount Airy Road in Dillsburg.
(Paulus Farm Market in Mechanicsburg is owned by Dan's brother, Jim, and his
wife, Amy.) We farm about 150 acres, mostly apples, peaches,
nectarines, plums, pears, and pumpkins. We have a few acres of
blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Most of the vegetables we
sell we buy from Dan's brother, making almost all of what we sell Paulus Produce.
Our goal is to provide you with the best quality produce and the best
possible customer service. We will do our best to make sure you leave
the farm happy and with no unanswered questions!
As far as the growth of the business, school tours were added only a few
years after the purchase of the farm. They have grown from short,
simple walking tours through the orchard to tours that include wagon rides,
apple and pumpkin picking, learning time, and play time that includes small
corn maze, pedal karts, apple bin play yard, corn shed and tube slides.
Pick your own apples was added in 2004 and pick your own pumpkins was added
in 2005. In 2006, the corn maze and birthday parties were added.
Evening parties were added in 2007, and in 2008 came the first tube slide
and the corn shed for children to play in on our fall weekends. In
2009 we built a brand new kitchen and added ice cream and apple cider
donuts. A picnic pavilion was also built in 2009 and flashlight mazes
were added on Friday evenings in October.
A pedal kart track, 2 inflatables, more tube slides,
and a straw bale castle were added in 2010. For 2011 we are adding the
apple bin-azium, a grab-and-go food stand in the play area for fall
weekends, a pedal kart track for the smaller bikes, and two "little logs"
houses - you can use life-sized logs to build a house (similar to Lincoln
Logs). We hope to add something new every year!
