Orchard Tours Your Kids will Love and Teachers will Appreciate!

Our tours cover many of the PA Academic Standards. Click here to see what standards can be covered.

School groups, scouting groups, church groups, adult groups… a fun learning experience is waiting for you!

Tours for all ages are always welcome and are scheduled by reservation on Monday through Friday in September, October and November.  November tours do not pick apples but you receive a small bag of apples.

Tour times can be scheduled any time between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Most fall tours last about an hour to an hour and a half.   If you want to stay and play, give yourself more time.  We offer two different options.

Apples 101:

Come see the beautiful orchards.  Your students will love a day on the farm!

  • See live bees making honey in the observational bee hive.
  • Ride on a tractor pulled wagon around the orchard.
  • Pick apples from the trees.
  • Pick a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch or take home an educational activity book.
  • Explore a 3-acre corn maze.
  • Play in the corn shed.
  • Play on the playground (on display this fall from F.A.M.I.L.I.E.S., a company that builds wonderful play structures).
  • Picnic at the large covered picnic area if you like.

The charge for all of this is only $4/person, minimum tour charge is 10 people.  Choose both the pumpkin and activity book for just a dollar more per person.  The fee for adults is the same for children if the adults are picking apples and pumpkins.  If the adults do not pick, they are free.

This tour is recommended for ANY age – we will customize the tour to your group!  We have done this tour for young children through Senior Citizen Groups.   Senior tours get the wagon ride, apple picking, and more in depth education.  Many adult groups like to learn about pollination and honey bees - we raise our own bees and love to talk to people about it.

Please call 432-2544 to reserve your tour and then complete and mail the Tour Reservation Form.

Corn 101:

This is a fun trip to our six acre maze!  This tour is recommended for upper elementary grades, middle school, high school, college, or adult groups. Many local companies have found this to be a great employee outing.

The cost of this tour is $5/person which includes optional educational discussion, admission to the large corn maze, wagon ride, and reserved picnic tables either before or after your maze tour.  Add pumpkin picking for an extra dollar per person.  Minimum tour charge is for 20 people.  Please call 432-2544 to reserve your tour and then complete and mail the Tour Reservation Form.

Educational Coloring/Activity Books: Looking for an educational and inexpensive souvenir of your trip?  Pick up one of these books.  These make great party favors too!

  • Honey Book; a fantastic biology lesson with terms such as antennae, compound eye, thorax, abdomen, drone, queen, worker bee, proboscis, nectar, symbiotic relationship, circle dance, wag tail dance, and more. It is a fantastic book with many, many bee facts – sure to teach everyone in your class something new.
  • Corn Book; teaches children the history of corn and how the Indians taught the pilgrims how to grow and use it in many ways. It also teaches children the correct plant part names, what makes popcorn pop, and how corn mazes are created.
  • Apple Book; geared toward young children.  Mostly a coloring book.
  • Pumpkin Book
  • Vegetable Book
  • Gourd Book

Large-Covered Picnic Area: Reserve your spot if you plan on staying for lunch. We provide the space – you provide the lunch. We have lots of drinks and goodies at the stand if you want something extra.  This is FREE with your purchase of a tour, but it must be reserved ahead of time.

Teacher Testimonials...

  • On behalf of the students of PA Virtual Charter School, I would like to thank you for the excellent outing in October.  The students commented on how interesting the program was and how much they enjoyed the activities.  Thank you for allowing us the use of the tents.  Your careful attention to details, your organization, and your friendly, helpful staff made it possible for our groups to move smoothly through your activities.  This was an excellent outing for our students.  I hope that we will be able to reserve a tour in the future.  Deborah Umbreit, PAVCS.
